Medicare Annual Notice of Coverage (ANOC)

October 01, 2024
The Medicare Annual Notice of Coverage (ANOC) is a document that Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Prescription Drug Plans (Part D) send to their members every year, typically in September. It provides an overview of any changes in the plan's coverage, costs, or service area for the upcoming year. Here's what it typically includes:

Coverage Changes

  • Changes to benefits or services covered by the plan, such as new or removed services or changes to restrictions like prior authorizations or step therapy.

Cost Changes

  •    Updates to premiums, deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance amounts.
  •    Changes to the cost of prescription drugs, particularly for Part D plans. This might include changes to the formulary (the list of covered drugs)
and different pricing tiers for medications.

Provider Network Changes

  •  Information about changes in the network of doctors, hospitals, or pharmacies that are available through the plan. This is especially relevant for Medicare Advantage plans, which often have specific networks.

Pharmacy and Drug Changes

  • Any changes to the list of covered drugs, or the tiers in which drugs are placed, for Part D plans.

Important Dates

  • Reminders about the Medicare Open Enrollment Period (October 15 to December 7), when you can make changes to your plan for the following year.
The ANOC helps you review your current plan and see if it will still meet your needs in the upcoming year. Based on the information, you can decide whether to keep your current plan or switch during the Open Enrollment Period.
Do something you enjoy every day. When you immerse yourself in things you enjoy, you can’t wait to do them again.
Age is just a number, but the love you've had in your life is limitless.
